The Base Table references the heritage of Scandinavian design through its simple frame and subtle details. With its design harking back to the essence of a table, the Base Table features a veneer edge for a touch of Scandinavian materiality, paired with the elegant shapes of its table top and frame. Use the design in any home, workplace, educational institution or hospitality space for notes of Scandinavian simplicity.

Both the Visu Hanger and the Cable Management Solution can be installed to the Base Table for efficient office and work environments.

Product Material
Tabletop in plywood with either laminate, linoleum or oak veneer surface with a water-based lacquer. Plywood or ABS edges. Frame and legs in powder coated aluminum.

Oak veneer: slight color variations can occur due to the inherent characteristics of the material.

Laminate: The laminate used in our designs is partly made from melamine resin; one of the hardest synthetically produced organic materials that has the ability to make a surface highly resistant towards scratches and natural wear.

Plywood: a strong, thin wooden material that is made from pressing or gluing multiple layers of wood together.

Powder Coated Aluminum: Aluminum’s malleability makes it a grand fit for highly detailed, durable Muuto products, bringing a light, airy feel to robust designs.

Mika Tolvanen

Mika Tolvanen is a renowned Finnish designer who started his own practice after graduating from Royal College of Art in 2001. Tolvanen designs products for residential and contract use from his studio and workshop on the island of Lauttasaari outside of Helsinki, Finland. "The objective is not only to design products, but rather to look at occasions we need to design for. What really defines objects is how we use them, not what they appear to be. Design should never be the aspect that makes too much noise."
