Coupe 1159/R Wall Lamp | Highlight image 1
The Coupé series, designed by Joe Colombo, was initially conceived as a variant of the Spider family, daughter of the same designer, of which it retains the base and stem. The simple and ingenious mechanism that connects the stem to the head allows you to direct the light beam in different directions, moving the cap up, down and sideways.

Coupé received, in 1968, the "International Design Award" of the American Institute of Interior Designers, in Chicago. It is part of the permanent collection of the MoMA in New York and of the "Neue Sammlung" Museum in Munich.

Available in two variants, with a semi-cylindrical or semi-spherical shell, the Coupé has been declined over the years in multiple models (from the historic table lamp to floor and wall models), becoming one of Oluce's best known and most appreciated collections.

Joe Colombo

Joe Colombo

Joe Colombo was born 30 July 1930 in Milan. He studied painting at the Accademia di Brera art school until 1949, after which he began to study architecture at the Politecnico di Milano. Having finished studying, Colombo joined the Nuclear painting movement, and exhibited his work together with its founders Enrico Baj and Sergio Dangelo in various cities in Europe. He created many of the most iconic Italian designs. In a brief but successful career, Joe Colombo produced highly innovative objects, which made him into one of the most influential product designers in Italy at the time.
