The Gallery stool was a major design breakthrough when it was launched in 1998. With striking simplicity, the properties of moulded plywood are pushed to the maximum limit to form a sculptural seating object.

Stool made from a single mould of plywood and fixed with metal joints.

Hans Sandgren Jakobsen

Hans Sandgren Jakobsen was a trained cabinet-maker before graduating from the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts - the School of Design in 1990. He worked in Nanna Ditzel's drawing office from 1990-1997, where he learned an approach of material curiosity limit seeking. His design breakthrough happened in 1998 with his masterpiece, the highly awarded Gallery stool, developed in collaboration with Fredericia. He received the Danish Furniture Prize and he was the recipient of numerous grants and awards from many institutions. Today he works with design companies in Denmark and Japan.
