The Les glaçons vases are crafted by grinding hand-blown glass with a grinder to create a new expression that is different from that of ordinary clear glass. The artisan creates various textures by engraving vertical lines one by one, adding thin facets horizontally, and coarsely and randomly grinding the entire surface. By gradually changing from a coarse grinder to a fine grinder, the artisan takes time to carefully shape each vase. The glass created in the scorching heat of the glassblowing studio, where temperatures rise above 50 degrees in midsummer, is ground to have the dignified presence of an iceberg. The appearance of each vase resembles a sculpture with strong yet delicate features to elegantly hold a single small wildflower.
