Based on the iconic three-shade system, designed in 1926 and also known as the System PH, the PH 3/2 was designed by Poul Henningsen to provide optimal lighting by creating an island of light on a table or other surface. Introduced in 1927, it was also among the first lamps Henningsen designed with opal glass shades, which provided uniform light thanks to their sandblasted underside. The PH 3/2 Pale Rose Table Lamp is a modern twist on this iconic design, which features pale rose coloured glass shades, paired with brushed brass elements with fine hairlines that follow the form of the fixture. This combination has an elegant and classic expression, which is timeless and ideal for the modern home. Please note that the brass is untreated. This means that the surface will change over time and develop a patina if left unpolished.

Light concept:
Based on Poul Henningsen’s reflective three-shade system, this luminaire provides a soft downward directed light, while emitting a wonderful glow. The pale rose coloured mouth-blown opal glass shades are glossy on top, and in combination with a sandblasted matt opal white lower side, it yields a soft and poetic light.

Materials:
Mouth-blown four-layered pale rose coloured glass with a white sandblasted underside. Glossy on the outside, sandblasted on the inside. Brass, brushed and untreated with fine hairlines.

Finish:
Brushed brass with fine hairlines, untreated. Pale Rose coloured glass with white sandblasted innerside.

Mounting
2.8 m. White textile cord.

Poul Henningsen

Poul Henningsen was born in Copenhagen by the famous Danish writer. He never graduated as an architect, but studied at The Technical School at Frederiksberg, and then at Technical College in Copenhagen. He started practicing traditional functionalistic architecture, but over the years his interests focus mainly on lighting. He is the legendary creator of the lighting series carrying his name; PH. He can be said to be the world’s first lighting architect. PH devoted his entire career to investigating the importance of light for our well being.
