With obvious references to the style and details of Wegner’s iconic breakthrough piece the Round Chair, the pp101 is designed for a less complicated production and a somewhat more humble purpose. Despite its reduced complexity, the chair preserves Wegner’s signature attention to proportion, balance, and craftsmanship while presenting it’s own unique character.
A defining element is the gently curved, horizontal backrest – a construction that reflects Wegner’s sculptural understanding of both form and function. The frame is complemented by handwoven, custom-developed linen webbing, created specifically for this chair, adding a light and understated expression.

Hans J. Wegner
Hans J. Wegner was born in 1914 in Tønder, Denmark, is one of the most creative, innovative and prolific furniture designers of all time. He created almost 500 in his lifetime. His iconic Wishbone Chair is probably the most well-known and has been in continuous production since 1950. He established his own studio in 1943. He received many design awards. Almost all of the world’s major design museums, from the Museum of Modern Art in New York and Designmuseum Danmark in Copenhagen to Die Neue Sammlung in Munich, exhibit his works. He died in Denmark in January 2007, aged 92.
